In order to clear space in Google Drive for the incoming class of 2029 we need to delete old student accounts. This includes files and folders they may have shared with you.
Files and folders owned or created by graduates from 2014-2024 have been renamed to include (Pending Deletion) in the titles. The new names have been visible to anyone they were shared with for over 9 months. Please check to see if you wish to save any soon to be deleted files. For example, if students did work for your department, office, or did research, thesis work, or any academic collaborations you may want those files and folders to have ownership changed or moved to a department Shared Drive for long term preservation.
What do I need to do?
Please use this search link to view files that are shared with you and are titled (PENDING DELETION – CONTACT OIT). These files will be deleted in mid August unless you notify us.
If you would like a personalized Excel sheet of Pending Deletion files that are shared with you contact OIT at [email protected]
I’ve identified files I want to keep, what now?
To save files, email itsupport@williams.edu . OIT will work one-on-one with you to preserve any important material.
Are these College Records or do they have historical value?
If any of the files qualifies as College Records, or has historical, fiscal, legal, or administrative significance (like documenting the history of your student group), reach out to Jessika Drmacich, the College’s Records Manager/Digital Resources Archivist, for assistance.
