Online Learning Opportunities

Codecademy

Codecademy is an American online interactive platform that offers free coding classes in 12 different programming languages including Python, Java, Go, JavaScript, Ruby, SQL, C++, C#, Swift, and Sass, as well as markup languages HTML and CSS.

Coursera

Coursera is a massive open online course provider founded in 2012 by Stanford University computer science professors Andrew Ng and Daphne Koller. Coursera works with universities and other organizations to offer online courses, certifications, and degrees in a variety of subjects. It partners with more than 200 leading universities and companies to bring flexible, affordable, job-relevant online learning to individuals and organizations worldwide. 

edX

Free college courses from 160 member institutions including topics like project management and R. They have typical topics like Latin, calculus, and programming.

LinkedIn Learning

Courses in business, technology and creative skills. Residents of Massachusetts, including students, have access to 16,000 LinkedIn Learning classes through the Boston Public Library. MITx

Anyone can learn for free from MITx courses. They are open to learners worldwide and have already reached millions. Earning a certificate of completion costs a low fee and may entail completing additional assessments. MITx courses are delivered through the edX platform or through MITx online.

OpenLearn

OpenLearn is a free learning platform delivered by The Open University as part of its Royal Charter commitment to support the wellbeing of the community. The content is designed to deliver bite-sized learning experiences that easily fit into daily life. Learn new topics and discover new skills with over 900 academic-led short courses and thousands of articles, quizzes, videos and interactive games.

Skillshare

Skillshare is an online learning platform with thousands of creative courses and classes taught by experts to help you learn new skills. The majority of courses focus on interaction rather than lecturing, with the primary goal of learning by completing a project. The main course categories include creative arts, design, entrepreneurship, lifestyle and technology.

Udemy

Udemy courses are offered across a breadth of categories, including business and entrepreneurship, academics, the arts, health and fitness, language, music, and technology. Udemy also offers Udemy for Business, enabling businesses access to a targeted suite of over 7,000 training courses on topics from digital marketing tactics to office productivity, design, management, programming, and more.
