Wi-fi calling is a feature supported by many newer Apple and Android phones which allows you to make voice calls over wi-fi networks rather than your carrier’s 4G, 5G or LTE networks. Wi-fi calling can be particularly helpful in situations where there is poor cell signal which has been known to happen inside some of the larger buildings on campus particularly in basements or interiors without windows.
To use wi-fi calling your phone and carrier must support it and it must be turned on in your device settings.
Here are official instructions on how to enable wi-fi calling on most Apple and Android devices.
OIT has done it’s best to try to enable wi-fi calling on our Eduroam network within all buildings on campus. If you experience issues using wi-fi calling you may need to check with your service provider to make sure your service plan and equipment can make use of wi-fi calling features.
