An account is required to use Jabber. Please contact [email protected] for a Jabber account if you do not already have one.
The Cisco Jabber workstation client is available from the OIT software download site. You will be required to login with your Williams username and password. Once logged in, click the Download button at the bottom of the screen. This will download a .PKG file to your downloads folder. Double click the pkg file to begin the installation.
Click Continue and go with all of the default settings. When first prompted for a password, this is your local computer username and password.
When finished, you can launch Jabber from the Applications folder.
You may receive warnings about accessing Bluetooth and allowing Jabber to record. The Bluetooth setting is your choice but you should choose Deny when you see the second recording warning.
Jabber defaults to placing calls from your office phone, so, in order to place calls from your computer, you must choose the Call Settings icon in the lower-right corner of the calls list and change the device for calls to “Use my computer.”
