Using Webex - audio/video online conferencing

OIT hosts the online conferencing software Cisco Webex.  Webex is very similar to Skype but since it is hosted here, it tends to be more reliable and has more functionality than Skype.  Webex has both video and audio capabilities but you do not need to use the video function.  You can use Webex just for conference calling.  If you are interested in using Webex, we will need to activate your account in that system. Please contact OIT by calling the Faculty Staff Support Desk at 597-4090 or you can submit the request through our ticketing system: http://ticket.williams.edu

Below are the steps for using Webex to schedule a meeting:

  1. Go to https://webexmc.williams.edu and login with your [email protected] and email password.
  2. Click Schedule and enter all of the information you need to pass along to those you are inviting, they will receive an email with this information.  Participants do not need to have Williams email addresses.
  3. The attendee will have the email with the meeting number which is needed to join the meeting.
  4. Click Schedule It at the bottom and its done.

Attendees, and yourself, will receive an email like this:

You can schedule the meeting as far ahead of time as you want to.  Attendees will receive an email reminder and, if they use gmail, it will be added to their calendar when they accept.
