Load Balancer System Maintenance

Date: Saturday, March 16th, 2024

Time: 8:00 AM to 10:00 AM

Impact: Brief service disruption (up to 15 minutes)

Description: OIT will be performing necessary maintenance on our load balancers, impacting various college services. You may experience brief intermittent availability during this maintenance window.

Affected Services:

• Web Systems (WordPress and most legacy web services that are hosted on campus)
• Authentication Services for the following services/systems
  • Wireless Authentication (including eduroam remotely)
  • Peoplesoft Systems (ephr, finance, sarah)
  • Advancement Systems (adv)
  • Docfinity
  • GLOW
  • Bswift
  • VDI
  • Papercut
  • Shibboleth
  • Ticket (both OIT and OCR)
  • Phones and voicemail portals

Wireless Network Upgrade

Date: Wednesday, March 20th, 2024

Time: 7:00 AM onwards

Impact: Temporary disruption to W-Devices network & WiFi guest registration only. Other wireless services will be unaffected.

Description: OIT will be performing a major upgrade on some of our wireless infrastructure servers. While the work will span most of the day, the only expected disruption is to registration of new devices on the W-Devices network and guest registrations on the Williams-College network. Existing connections and other wireless services should not be impacted.

Other maintenance activities will be done in addition to those listed above, which will cause NO disruptions to the general community.  Any that may cause any disruptions specific to certain departments have been or will be coordinated directly with those departments.
