Guest wifi unavailable for up to two hours on the morning on March 20

Williams staff, faculty and students,

To continue to provide secure access to our wireless network, we’re updating several related servers on Wednesday morning, March 20th.

This upgrade will require the temporary de-broadcast of the “Williams-College” wireless network.  The main effect of this is that people will not be able to join the Williams Guest wifi network.  This network also provides device registration for IoT related technology.

We anticipate about a 2 hour window from 6AM-8AM for this particular network to be unavailable while we perform work. The total maintenance window is from 6AM- 10Am.  Eduroam and W-devices should continue to operate as expected.

We don’t anticipate any changes with other wireless networks such as eduroam during this planned maintenance. If for some reason your device doen’t connect to eduroam please try forgetting your eduroam network https://oit.williams.edu/announcements/how-to-forget-a-wireless-network/ or use the official eduroam tool from https://cat.eduroam.org/  (Android phone owners simply use the “geteduroam” app from the Play Store).   Please contact us at [email protected] or x4090 if you would like assistance or come visit us at the faculty / staff support desk in Jesup hall.
