Bring out your dead (tech) – OIT computer recycling project is back May 29-30-31
Computer Recycling (Greenup) Program
PLEASE do not put your computer equipment in the trash. For one, it’s not green. Two, it’s not safe – someone could grab your computer, boot it up and read all your files. Even if your computer is broken or doesn’t boot someone could still take the drive out and easily retrieve the data.
Sunday May 19 and Monday May 20 is reserved for underclass students. Equipment will be received at the front desk of Jesup Hall from 10-2 both days.
Wednesday, Thursday and Friday May 29, 30 and 31 for seniors and all faculty and staff. Equipment will be received at the new Facilities barn behind the tennis courts from 12-2 all three days.
Computers will have their hard drives removed and destroyed to eliminate the possibility of data theft. Equipment which can be reused will be refurbished by OIT and donated to local schools and non-profit organizations. The rest will be removed by a recycling firm.
A Williams I.D. is required to drop off equipment.
The purpose of this project is to accept personal computing equipment, we do not have the capacity to handle items from businesses.
Printers, monitors and computer peripherals are accepted. Do not bring household items like TVs, VCRs, Microwaves, etc.
