After Signing Up

Once you have an account with Element K, go directly to www.elementk.com. Log in and you'll see a banner across the top of the page that looks like this:

ElementK menubar.

Click on Course Catalog and you'll be presented with a list of courses arranged alphabetically by manufacturer. PhotoShop is under Adobe, Excel and Word are under Microsoft, and Dreamweaver is under Macromedia. There's even a tutorial on how to use Element K that you can take (under 'E' for Element).

Click on the title of the tutorial that you want to take and you'll see a table of contents. Each course is broken into lessons, and each lesson has one or more sections. To take the sections in order you can click on on the words Start Course in the top right hand corner. You can also take the sections in any order by clicking on the title of the section you want to take in the table of contents. To the right of each section name you'll see a check box. Once you've completed a section, that box will become checked. You can return to any section at any time.

Also in the top right hand corner of the page for some classes you'll see the words Take Assessment. If you choose to take the assessment you'll be presented with 20 questions that the computer will use to evaluate your existing knowledge. Based on your answers, the computer will check off the lessons it feels you have mastered.

When you click on a lesson or start the course, a window will open showing you the program that you're studying plus a blue instruction window. Read the instructions in the window and follow any directions it gives. When you're ready to move to the next page, click on the right arrow.

If you have any difficulty or questions, please email Jonathan Leamon.
