ITECH, INSTRUCTIONAL TECHNOLOGY
WIT (Williams Instructional Technology) Project Interns.
ITech seeks current Williams College students to work with faculty and ITech staff on curricular development projects. Students will work in groups, plan projects, develop timelines, and assist faculty with exploration of the use of new media in the curriculum. Web page authoring experience, digital imaging and graphic production, familiarity with digital audio and video editing programs, or computer programming skills are helpful but not required. Experience in graphic design or in publication development is also helpful. The 10-week program begins June 9 and ends August 15. For more information, see:

Media Studio Support.
Instructional Technology supports the use of technology in teaching and learning, and thus is responsible for most of the multimedia and graphics tools on campus. ITech seeks two students to assist with a wide variety of tasks, from assisting users to writing documentation to setting up hardware and installing software. The job offers many chances to gain experience with advanced tools. Experience with OS X and Windows XP is preferred. A successful candidate must enjoy assisting others with understanding technology as well as be able to work and solve problems independently. Preference is given to Williams College students.
Media Services.
Media Services seeks an individual student worker for summer employment. This individual will be called on for clerical assistance (answering phones, responding to email, updating databases, etc) and to greet and assist visitors. In the absence of a supervisor, this person will be expected to provide a professional office presence. Basic technical assistance will occasionally be required for video and audio editing and for repair and maintenance of audio visual equipment. Off and on campus errands, summer conference emergency audio/visual assistance and other duties can also be expected.
NETSYS, NETWORKING AND SYSTEMS
NetSys will be hiring students to work with Network Systems Administrators
and the Computer Lab Administrator to perform the following tasks:
- scheduled checking of campus labs and computer classrooms,
- installation and maintenance of network hardware and wiring,
- assistance with network implementations and lab deployments.
Some lifting and carrying will be required. Some jobs will involve working
in basements and dusty wiring closets. The ideal candidates will understand
computer fundamentals and have a desire to learn Mac/PC support and network
infrastructure.
DESKTOP SYSTEMS
The Desktop Systems Department of OIT is will be hiring high-school and college students to work in our computer repair department. Duties and responsibilities include:
- Computer hardware repair, upgrades and deployments. Knowledge of computer hardware is required although this is a good opportunity to learn more.
- Ability to lift computers, monitors, printers and other heavy items necessary.
- There may be the opportunity to work directly with Desktop Systems Specialists doing troubleshooting at the support desk.
Current STCs will be considered with preference, other students with ties to the college are encouraged to apply. Specific duties will change during the course of the summer, so applicants should plan on being flexible. Students will work as part of a two or three person team.
All applicants must be 17 years of age before beginning work.
